Sarah Palin: The Ominous Parallels

Sarah Palin was born in February 1964. So was I.

In her childhood she lived briefly in Idaho. So did I.

She currently lives in a state whose name begins with the Arabic word for “the.” So do I.

She received her degree from the University of Idaho. I’ve lectured at the University of Idaho.

She’s the chief executive officer of her state. I’m the chief executive officer of my think tank.

She has expressed sympathy for secessionist movements. So have I.

She has served as Ethics Supervisor for the Oil and Gas Conservation Commission. I teach ethics every semester.

She likes to shoot moose. I once shot a photo of a moose.

She’s in favour of war, censorship, forcible reproduction, corporate welfare, and gun rights. I’m in favour of gun rights.

She has said: “individual freedom and independence are extremely important to me and that’s why I’m a Republican.” I have said: “individual freedom and independence are extremely important to me, and I agree that Sarah Palin is a Republican.”

She has said: “I think God’s will has to be done in unifying people and companies to get that gas line built.” I’ve said some very silly things too.

She had never met John McCain before this year. I’ve never met John McCain at all.

I read on that there have been a lot of searches for “Sarah Palin hot pictures”…is there a parallel there? How many searches, that you know of, are made for “Roderick Long hot pictures”?

Google Images result for “Roderick Long hot pictures”:

I keep envisioning Palin as the new Slayer (physically attractive, female, physically fit, unsubtle moralistic view of the world) and McCain as her Watcher (stuffy older white male, ruthlessly pragmatic approach to ethics hidden under a respectable surface).

“She’s in favour of … forcible reproduction …”

I knew the Republicans were horrible, but I was not aware they are in favor of forcing women to reproduce (become impregnated) against their wills!

I suggest you consult a dictionary.

Do not ever compare John McCain to Rupert Giles!

Giles may have been pretty dark in his younger days, but he’s learned from his errors. Just observe how annoyed he is whenever Ethan Rayne shows up.

I think that John McCain compares to Rupert Giles very much as Sarah Palin compares to Buffy Anne Summers. That is, both are much darker and more compromised analogs. But I wasn’t specifically comparing McCain to Giles; if you look at the episodes that feature other Watchers, you’ll see that “ruthlessly pragmatic approach to ethics” applies to nearly all of them. Wyndham-Price Senior is no boy scout, for example.

Perhaps you ARE Sarah Palin in disguise!
While infiltrating the Republican Party, you secretly maintain a double life as a female-to-male transgendered anarchist, intending to reveal the truth to an unsuspecting world once the presidency is yours!
Or not, but it would make an awesome novel plot.
