Kevin Carson’s latest C4SS study, The Thermidor of the Progressives: Managerialist Liberalism’s Hostility to Decentralized Organization, is now online. As the subtitle suggests, the study documents the tendency of so-called “progressives” to side with power and privilege against genuine left radicalism.

In other C4SS news (not so new at this point), check out the first installment of Gary Chartier’s introductory course on anarchism for Stateless U.:

Thomas Jefferson originally used the word subjects rather than citizens to refer to the American public in the Declaration. Oops.

I liked the intro and watched the first lecture. It blew away my former expectations. Hopefully sometime in the future I may find a more meaningful way to contribute.

I found the aside about how utilitarianism is true insofar as other people’s happiness is constitutive of one’s own happiness to be mind-bending (in the most positive sense).

You certainly look blown away in that picture.

I’ve just heard this introduction and part one of the lecture, and it’s pretty good so far. Roderick, you may want to remind people (again) that there is a free pdf version of The Market for Liberty available at Mises.org. I have a hardcover copy in my attic (which I bought years ago in college), but haven’t read it in a long time. I’ll remedy that shortly.

There isn’t one any more, alas; the “copyright” holder (Laissez Faire Books) forced them to take it down.

Roderick, you’re correct as usual. The 1st edition copy I obtained was not directly from Mises.org, but from a different source/mirror that referenced Mises (dated 2008). Easily Googled and I’m sure you know of the main site I found, but I’ll just not mention it in case Laissez Faire comes looking.

Wish I could edit my postings. Trying to be careful but Black Bloke already outed them. Free Keene had a pdf download in addition to the audiobook.
