The Barr supporters’ lunatic strategy of trying to piss off as many of their potential supporters in the libertarian movement as possible continues. My favourite laugh line: “mainstream politicians bring credibility to the table.” (Why am I linking to a petition I disagree with? Because I doubt many of my readers will be inclined to sign it, and anyway no real harm would be done if they did.)
I assume this petition is a response to another, thus far somewhat more popular petition.
Just FYI, “mainstream” is their funny Moon-language for “ruling class”.
Observe…
—
WHEREAS, Bob Barr is the first ruling class candidate ever to receive the Presidential nomination of the Libertarian Party;
WHEREAS, ruling class politicians bring credibility to the table; while inflexible, impractical, ideologically “pure” candidates are simply perfectionists living in a utopian dream world;
WHEREAS, the ideological “pureness” of the Libertarian Party has long isolated ruling class sycophant Americans as well as…
And I almost feel sorry that they couldn’t scrape up someone capable of writing “alienated” instead of “isolated”.
A full one-sixth of the petition signers identify as Libertarian Republicans! Bob Barr would be a fool to throw away their three votes.
I don’t think I can even choose a favorite laugh line, Roderick. The entire petition was hilarious. I’m glad you linked to it.
I like this one:
“Augusto Pinochet
High Bridge, New Jersey
Libertarian Republican
Yes! Time to make the state more efficient at pushing around the undesirables. I’ve decided this is what mainstream Americans want!”
No need to play nice. If they want to make libertarianism mean streamlined oppression they can go fuck themselves. Especially Shane Cory.
Well, darn. I tried to sign it as Adolf Hitler (with a remark about “we mainstream politicians”) but it wouldn’t let me. Maybe that site has an anti-Hitler filter but no anti-Pinochet filter.
This one is pending approval at the moment:
Emperor Palpatine
formersenatorpalpatine@formerrepublic.gov
Coruscant, The Empire
Neo-Libertarian Republican
Yes, we mainstream politicians must stick togther.
