A Weentsy Fib

I just saw Howard Dean on MSNBC saying “There’s not much difference among the Republicans. All the Republican candidates favour staying in Iraq. All the Republican candidates favour pardoning Scooter Libby.”

The truth just isn’t in these guys.

I used to think comments like this reflected malice. Then I remembered, “Never attribute to evil what you can attribute to stupidity”!

I can believe that Dean doesn’t know about Paul’s position on pardoning Scooter Libby. I can’t believe that he doesn’t know about Paul’s position on Iraq.

Anthony Gregory wrote an article about Scooter Libby.

It would be really odd if Howard Dean didn’t know about the Paul position on Iraq. It’s been one of his main selling points.

    Anon82 says:

“Never attribute to evil what you can attribute to stupidity”

The trouble with this argument is that it assumes the two are mutually exclusive categories.

He probably realized, then told himself “why spoil a perfectly good sound bite when Paul has no chance of winning the nomination anyway?”

    Still a little slimy.

Howard Dean has made similar statements on CNN, but he mentioned Ron Paul as an exception once. Maybe he’s just too lazy to do that every time.
