I read the spoiler. Ok, that’s an interesting plot device, but: it still doesn’t explain how the main characters will be temporally synchronous when they were young. If we go to Kirk’s days at the Academy, Sulu and Uhura would be in high school and Chekov would be in junior high. Spock would already be out serving on the Enterprise. He served with Capt. Pike for 13 years, remember? So he wasn’t at the Academy when Kirk was. McCoy and Scott are also established in TOS as older than Kirk. I still haven’t see an explanation of how they’ll deal with this.
Captain Pike is rumored to be in the movie, incidentally, so they must have some idea worked out — but I bet the chronological explanations will be strained and unsatisfactory, like Star Trek: Enterprise‘s attempts to cram various anachronisms in without breaching continuity.
