I see that the excellent 1942 Italian movie version (in VHS) of We the Living, which usually goes for $70, is currently (whether temporarily or longterm I don’t know) being offered for $40.
I wonder whether this price reduction means they’re finally planning to release a DVD version?
$40. That’s pretty expensive.
It may be worth it though, story wise I actually like Rand’s ‘We the Living’ over ‘Anthem’ and ‘Atlas Shrugged’. (I haven’t read ‘The Fountainhead’ yet.)
It’s quite a good film; it’s long and so doesn’t suffer from plot compression the way the film of The Fountainhead does. WTL also lacks that movie’s bad mix of casting (Gary Cooper underacts, Patricia Neal overacts, so making them co-stars was bound to create an uneven tone).
And WTL’s pretty accurate, since apparently they had no shooting script and just followed the book.
