I see that theres an e-book available of our Anarchism/Minarchism anthology. It has a different cover (somewhat reminiscent of the hyperspace sequence in 2001) and everything.
But it costs exactly as much as the print edition. Whats up with that?
And, um, why does the blurb describe it as a book on Neoplatonic philosophy of mind?
Are you sure you guys didn’t just put together this book?

Books on Board seems to think so.
Two things:
1. What do you think of Adam Reed’s inductive critique of anarchism?
2. I don’t mean to be pushy, but is there a timeline on that Rand monograph copying? ( :
I don’t quite get it when it comes to ebook publishing. Even Amazon’s books are generally quite expensive. Why don’t publishers come out with a system like iTunes where they sell books at a uniform, modest price? For example, $5 for out of print books and $7 for in print books.
-NEIL PARILLE
Neil Parille – And Google, apparently, is looking at charging full hardcover price. Which is flatly outrageous.
The reason is that the Big Publishing Houses insist on that. I also understand Amazon takes a hit on a lot of its $10 titles because the Houses insist it pay more than that per each download.
Of course those prices are outrageous. There’s no conscionable reason to charge anywhere near that much for an ebook. What’s required is wide enough acceptance of ebook (and print/bind-on-demand) technology to render the conventional publishing companies irrelevant.
And this will happen. Among other things, conventional publishing is so inefficient and burdened with overhead that it’s due to implode with the economy. If not faster.
