A Russian Touch to the Business

On the gloomier side – I wish the other Palin’s casual acceptance of the possible desirability of going to war with Russia were getting as much attention in the U.S. Ivan the Terriblemedia as her daughter’s pregnancy and her pitbull’s lipstick. (Scotsman.com recognised that that was the main story coming out of the Charlie Gibson interview; but then no true Scotsman.com would fail to do so.)

In related news, McCain and Obama have each agreed to appoint the other, depending on the breaks, to the position of Service Czar. Whee! I wonder whether Barr will appoint a Freedom Czar.

Who Will Be Allowed To Watch The Watchmen?

This is your brain on IP Another gift from IP: Fox is trying to block the release of this cool-looking movie based on one of the greatest comic books of all time. (Conical hat tip to Geoff Plauché.) Rumor has it that the Tolkien estate is likewise trying to block the upcoming Hobbit movie(s).

Note: for those who support IP, but do so on consequentialist grounds (mainly incentival) rather than rights-based ones, wouldn’t it be reasonable to allow the copyright holder only to demand a percentage of the profits, and not be able to block its release absolutely as Fox and the Tolkien estate are apparently seeking to do?

Seven Years After

[cross-posted at Liberty & Power]

Today (well, strictly speaking, yesterday, as of five minutes ago) is the seventh anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, and the sixth anniversary of both the Molinari Institute and my blog.

In related news, my third AOTP post is up: The Real Meaning of 9/11.

Fortune Cookies From Apokolips

Granny Goodness & Lex Luthor 1. A question for those Republicans who are slamming Ron Paul for betraying “party unity” by not endorsing McCain: If Paul had won the nomination, would McCain and his McCainiacs have endorsed him? (No fibbing, now.)

2. Starbucks has quotations – usually insipid or moronic ones – on its coffee cups. Mine today’s was from Madeleine Albright: “There is a special place in hell for women who don’t help other women.” I wonder if it’s anywhere near the place in hell for people who think killing half a million Iraqi children is “worth it.”

Winning Hearts and Minds

Are you a Ron Paul supporter?

Or are you an anti-voting agorist or voluntaryist?

Either way, Bob Barr’s national field director has decided it would be a clever strategy to insult you. (Conical hat tip to Tom Woods.)

This is the first time in my life (even counting 1992!) that I’ve been rooting for an LP candidate to lose. That’s a remarkable accomplishment, Mr. Barr.

Addendum:

Ferguson has deleted his post. But you can still read it here. (Thanks, Anthony!)
