Bionic Idiocy

Live-blogging tonight’s episode ….

So the Bionic Woman is a Rules Girl? How totally lame. Bring back Sarah Corvus!

At least we’re seeing some pretty stock footage of Paris.

Addendum:

Well, things just took an upturn – Leoben walked in!

Addendum 2:

Not enough Leoben! Too much boring subplot with Jaime’s kid sister!

Addendum 3:

Good, more Leoben. (Though when he hit whatsisface it looked wretchedly fake.)

Addendum 4:

Hey, whatsisface references actual obscure comic book and superhero! Geek point!

Addendum 5:

It was cool to see Leoben, but he didn’t get to do anything especially distinctive. (Ditto for appearances in previous episodes by Tyrol and Lampkin.) And there weren’t enough scenes of Paris. And they can’t seem to decide whether this spy outfit is dark/creepy/edgy or kinder/gentler/touchy/feely.

Bionic Woman is the show I watch because I can’t watch Galactica ….

I think my willingness to wait and see if it improves has been used up. That romantic subplot about the CIA agent is just way too dumb. And now that we’re not seeing much of Sarah Corvus, there are absolutely no characters with any charisma.

At this point I’m down to two shows: Heroes and Smallville. And Heroes’ clock is ticking; its stories thus far have been remarkably unimpressive. On the other hand, I’m surprised to find that Smallville is not the least impressive of the three; I hadn’t watched it in a couple of years, I think, and I only came back out of curiosity about their handling of Kara (who doesn’t impress me), but their treatment of Lana Lang as a supervillain is making it really interesting. Not least because her motives are a bit of a mystery. It’s something of the same effect that makes Francisco d’Anconia the most dramatic character in Atlas Shrugged, I think.

That bad guy sure looked like Daniel Craig…even got a ‘Casino Royal’ quip from the geek.

    Not so good as before….

The bad guy was played by the actor who plays Leoben on Galactica. But he’s much cooler/creepier on Galactica than he was here.

they can’t seem to decide whether this spy outfit is dark/creepy/edgy or kinder/gentler/touchy/feely

For instance: they start off the episode with Boss Lady interrogating a suspect and threatening to kill his family if he doesn’t cooperate; then later they have Boss Man bail Jaime’s sister out of jail and have a heartwarming/understanding heart-to-heart talk with her. Make up your minds, guys.
