A Sense of Proportion

I’m skeptical about these “remastered” versions of the original Star Trek, but if they’re going to do it they should at least do it right. AICN raves about this shot:

Galileo Seven

But when I look at it I see a shuttlecraft that’s way too big in proportion to the Enterprise – or conversely the Enterprise is too small. After all, the shuttle can only carry a handful of people, whereas there are supposed to be over four hundred crew on the Enterprise, living in fairly roomy conditions.

I noticed that also, but I think it’s a perspective problem. The ST website from which AICN got the still has some shots from another angle in which the proportions are more accurate. Check it out, see if you agree with me.

It’s terribly out of proportion. But then again, I don’t really watch TOS for such trifles as “consistency” or “verisimilitude”.

I don’t think perspective helps. Because, forget about the length, just look at the width of the shuttle in proportion to the width of the Enterprise.
