Of course we’re against all government, not just the presidency; but this might be an interesting conversation-starter (and, to borrow a beloved phrase of the gun-control crowd, a “reasonable first step”). And if people ask you “But without a president, who would run the country?” the very fact that people say things like that is yet another argument for abolishing the presidency.

One of my family members once said you can’t run a country without taxes. It’s scary that no one can imagine life without some central entity running a country (i.e. running people’s lives).
The family member was probably right, but in a way that we wouldn’t care for. We don’t want the country “run” at all, but if it is going to be “run” the runner will have to impose regularized robbery.
The USA ran for some 125 years without taxes till 1914 when they, and the Federal Reserve became permanent. No coincidence that either. We did have taxes briefly after the Revolutionary war and Civil War I but were repealed.
Personally I like the Hodenosaunee of the Iraquoise Confederacy which was already some 200 years old in the 1770’s with a monocameral congress which were staffed all by men but could be removed at anytime by the women if they found their member wasn’t doing the job. This was an influence on Franklin concerning the reformation of the Confederacy into the Federalist republic.
