Wouldn’t Sciabarra’s “Ayn Rand: The Russian Radical” count as an intellectual biography?
I’d say no, because it doesn’t concern itself that much with her biography post-Russia.
Wow. I was considering reading this book, but your review has thoroughly convinced me to pass it over.
[B]usiness executives in The Fountainhead are almost invariably gladhanding parasites whose subordinates handle all the real work, a pattern completely inverted by the “pyramid of ability” in Atlas.
Mmmmm…But isn’t Jim Taggart a “gladhanding parasite” while his sister Dagny, his subordinate, is the real brains of the family business? Hank Rearden might represent the “pyramid of ability”, but having Jim Taggart in there shows that Rand didn’t completely invert the Fountainhead pattern.
BTW, my latest prediction on the Atlas Shruggedmovie is that it’s gonna be not so good. Big time not so good.
