What Might Have Been

Wow. So George Lucas had enough self-knowledge to ask someone else to help direct and write the parts of the Star Wars prequels where there were, like, actors talking and stuff.

But, alas, not enough to ask a second person after the first turned him down.

Spielberg was there to help him out.

Lucas: I never really feel I understand actors as well as you do, so why don’t you direct the actors and I’ll do the action.

Amazing. Next thing you know he’ll go on TV with a public apology that gungans, ewoks, and large space/underwater/jungle creatures with no relation to anything are lame.

Sometimes I think that Lucas botching the prequels is the best thing that ever happened to the reputations of Brackett, Kasdan, and Kershner.
