Doctor Who starts up again on August 27th. In the meantime, heres a prequel:
I dont think the following counts as a spoiler, since itll be virtually impossible for any Doctor Who fan to avoid knowing it for long.
Weve had plenty of evidence that Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill (Amy and Rory) are leaving the show. (Theyve each accepted other roles, and theyve each referred to Doctor Who in the past tense in interviews.)
Yet as Ive previously reported, weve also had good evidence that theyre not leaving, or at least that Karen isnt namely, Karens explicit statement that shes coming back after the end of the current series.
This news item clears up the confusion. (CHT TARDIS Newsroom.) You know me, I love the reconciliation of A and non-A.
Wallace Stevens Peter Quince at the Clavier and J. R. R. Tolkiens Tale of Tinúviel always remind me of each other and not just because they both rhyme quavering with wavering. (Whether Tolkien is likely to have read Stevens I dont know; Im not sure how well known he was outside the u.s.)
Tolkien is reading his own poem; I dont know whos reading the Stevens. Great voice, but he makes a couple of mistakes (as youll notice if you read along).
So if the sign is about pterodactyls, why does the image on this sign (and likewise the associated trailer) depict a pteranodon instead?
