Interesting article. Buddhist metaphysics are fascinating, subtle, and complex. I wonder if they won’t prove more scientifically accurate than the traditional Western notion of essentialism. In Western philosophy we have long sought, and continue to seek, the eternal, timeless, absolute, and universal. Buddhist philosophy, however, views things as impermanent and contingent. Dependent origination describes the contingent nature of things.
After Darwin, it would appear that the Buddhists rather than Plato offered a more accurate description of the world.
