Principia Discordia

I’ve got another Libertarianism.org column up, this one on Hesiod’s distinction between the bad goddess of Strife or Discord (the one responsible for war) and the good one (the one responsible for market competition).

Pretty sure this is the bad one.

I know “principia discordia’ was just a clever title to use for this post, but I’m actually curious what you think of discoridanism and other absurdist viewpoints (namely that belief is necessary to get through life but that beliefs can never really correspond to reality so you might as well just pick something and go forward)?

Obviously, as a fan of Aristotle, you’d say that real, objective knowledge is more plausible for humans than an absurdist would admit. But do you have a succinct answer for Robert Anton Wilson and his ilk?

It might not be exactly what you’re looking for, but you can find some related responses here (in particular, Part IV, objections two and three).
