While I am, I suspect, considerably less a Randian than Kirkpatrick, I liked the movie a good deal more. But that’s not my only reason for doubting his judgment. He asserts that “Michael Lerner . . . is the only actor that will you will recognize in the movie,” which can only mean that he failed to recognize Armin Shimerman. ’Nuff said.
I doubt I will see the movie, but I was pleasantly surprised to see a review where the writer (a) read the book and (b) explained the thematic points in the novel that were lost in the film.
One doesn’t have to uncritically LOVE the novel Atlas Shrugged to recognize its many brilliant flashes of writing and plotting and theme.
