If you’ve been watching Prison Break you’ve noticed that Dr. Sara Tancredi has been conspicuous by her absence. Yes, she’s been kidnapped, but so has L.J. and we’ve seen him a few times; but with Sara it’s just been still photos or the back of her head. Supposedly this was because the actress (Sarah Wayne Callies) was on maternity leave, scheduled to return later in the season. But now it looks like the actress is not coming back at all.
So where does this leave her character’s plotline in season 3? My speculation rests on a SPOILER for those who haven’t seen last night’s episode, so I’ll bury it in the comment section.
POSSIBLE SPOILERS BELOW:
They can either recast her or kill her off. I think they should recast her, for the story’s sake. (Killing her off would be bad for the same reason that killing the little girl off at the beginning of Alien3 was bad, in that it made much of the previous installment pointless.) But I’m betting they won’t recast her. In fact, I’m betting it’s her head in the box that Linc finds at the end of last night’s episode.
Why? Well, the bad guys who are holding Sara and L.J. need to send a warning, and the writers need to deal with the actress’s departure. If the bad guys killed L.J. they’d lose Linc’s cooperation; but if they kill Sara instead, then Linc will have an incentive to keep the news from Michael in order to keep Michael motivated to continue with the plan and thus save L.J. Linc’s need to deceive Michael now will eventually drive a wedge between the two brothers, hindering their ability to work together when they most need to.
Anyway, that’s my prediction.
Did you ever get that e-mail I sent you?
I don’t see one from you. Send again?
Will do. I sent the e-mail on April 18th, 2007, to the longrob account. I’m sending it again right now.

I hope this doesn’t double post *crosses fingers*
That bug has gotta get worked out.

Yes, I did get it. My apologies for the delay; I’ll answer soon.
In other news — hey, I was right about Dr. Sara.
