Dead Again

After all that trouble to rescue the Doctor from his inevitable death at Lake Silencio last season, it’s sad to see that it was all for nothing, as he meets his tragic end at last in this prequel to the Doctor Who Christmas special. No Doctor in the special proper, then, I guess.

Random Rambles

550 A Avenue, Coronado

Speaking of Burroughs, while I was in San Diego for Libertopia last month I made a point of driving past the house on Coronado where Burroughs lived in 1913, when he was writing The Return of Tarzan and some of the early Barsoom and Pellucidar books. It looks exactly the same today as in this pic.

In other news, the weekend before last I had the opportunity to hear Michelle Shocked live in Auburn; I’ve been a fan of hers since grad school.

Right now I’m in the Florida Keys; heading back to Auburn this weekend.

Night Shift

Here are the five new mini-episodes that appear on the Doctor Who series 6 dvd. The last one takes place just before “Closing Time,” but it’s not obvious when the others take place.

Naked in Narnia

Two new Doctor Who clips. First, the Doctor gets naked for charity. Second, the trailer for next month’s Christmas special channels The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.
