The Atrocity of Hope, Part 8: What a Difference a Year Doesn’t Make

24thJan. × ’10

Remember that guy who was running for president who was going to bring back the troops from Iraq, close Guantanamo, and put an end to indefinite detention without trial? Barack something? Gee, we sure could use him now. (CHT LRC.)

I’m starting to wonder. Harry Reid suggests to Obama to run for president in 2008. Who made that suggestion to Harry Reid? And under what conditions did they give him their support?

      Ummm, MBH?

Either you have a typo or your timing is off. President Barry announced his candidacy in 2007.

I meant the 2008 election. You’re right that the suggestion was made well before that.

The health-care reform already fell apart.

I think this is why the anarchists of a socialist variety have abandoned “reformism”-America is truly at that awkward stage where meaningful reform within the system is impossible, but armed revolt is not yet appropriate either.

Who ever had any realistic expectation of Obama keeping to his relatively more anti-imperialist/pro-civil liberties campaign promises in the first place?

He’s a company man, through and through.
