Fortune Cookies From Apokolips

Granny Goodness & Lex Luthor 1. A question for those Republicans who are slamming Ron Paul for betraying “party unity” by not endorsing McCain: If Paul had won the nomination, would McCain and his McCainiacs have endorsed him? (No fibbing, now.)

2. Starbucks has quotations – usually insipid or moronic ones – on its coffee cups. Mine today’s was from Madeleine Albright: “There is a special place in hell for women who don’t help other women.” I wonder if it’s anywhere near the place in hell for people who think killing half a million Iraqi children is “worth it.”

Winning Hearts and Minds

[cross-posted at Liberty & Power]

Are you a Ron Paul supporter?

Or are you an anti-voting agorist or voluntaryist?

Either way, Bob Barr’s national field director has decided it would be a clever strategy to insult you. (Conical hat tip to Tom Woods.)

This is the first time in my life (even counting 1992!) that I’ve been rooting for an LP candidate to lose. That’s a remarkable accomplishment, Mr. Barr.

Addendum:

Ferguson has deleted his post. But you can still read it here. (Thanks, Anthony!)

McCain Proposes a Toast

do not underestimate the power of the dark sideThere’s a certain obscenity in McCain’s gassing about the “decency” of the United States when outside the hall his cops were brutalising innocent people. But my favourite line was this one: “if you’re disappointed with the mistakes of government, join its ranks and work to correct them.” Try substituting “the Mafia” (or “the Gestapo,” or “the Sith,” or “the Hosts of Hell”) for “government” in that sentence.

Sarah Palin: The Ominous Parallels

Sarah Palin was born in February 1964. So was I.

In her childhood she lived briefly in Idaho. So did I.

She currently lives in a state whose name begins with the Arabic word for “the.” So do I.

She received her degree from the University of Idaho. I’ve lectured at the University of Idaho.

She’s the chief executive officer of her state. I’m the chief executive officer of my think tank.

She has expressed sympathy for secessionist movements. So have I.

She has served as Ethics Supervisor for the Oil and Gas Conservation Commission. I teach ethics every semester.

She likes to shoot moose. I once shot a photo of a moose.

She’s in favour of war, censorship, forcible reproduction, corporate welfare, and gun rights. I’m in favour of gun rights.

She has said: “individual freedom and independence are extremely important to me and that’s why I’m a Republican.” I have said: “individual freedom and independence are extremely important to me, and I agree that Sarah Palin is a Republican.”

She has said: “I think God’s will has to be done in unifying people and companies to get that gas line built.” I’ve said some very silly things too.

She had never met John McCain before this year. I’ve never met John McCain at all.
