Another sign that the Randian aversion to free content is weakening: the entire text of Mary Ann and Charles Sures memoir Facets of Ayn Rand now appears to be online.
The Sures book was incidentally the subject of my second blog post ever.

Within the kingdom of the fish
the fisher-king is king
his hooks, his lures bring surcease sweet
to those who sway beneath his sway
and at his plate sublimely meet
the tines, the teeth, the palate grey
the finless flay, the stingless sting
Within the kingdom of the fish
the fisher-king is strong
each darting shape among the reeds
dreams dreamless dreams of silvered halls
where throned and robed her sovran feeds
as twilight after twilight falls
and long they wait, and long
Yet in the kingdom of the fish
the consummation tarries
no trident spears, no net enfolds
as slumbring sleepless in our crèche
the like grip gripless our need holds
for gainst our citadel of flesh
no host invests, nor harries
It saddens my heart to think that homosexuals can go around, bless God, and get the applause of a lot of people. Lesbians and all the rest of it? Bless God, forty years ago theyd have hung em, bless God, from a white oak tree, wouldnt they? Amen.
Pastor Charles Worley, 1978
Build a great big large fence, 150 or 100 miles long. Put all the lesbians in there. Fly over and drop some food. Do the same thing with the queers and the homosexuals. Have that fence electrified so they cant get out. Feed em, and and you know what? In a few years theyll die out.
Pastor Charles Worley, 2012
From execution to incarceration in just 34 years! At this rate, by 2046 hell be down to advocating a mere fine.
Im glad to see that Cato has started a Police Misconduct Reporting Project. (CHT Jesse Walker.)
The private space exploration company SpaceX has just launched an (unmanned) space capsule, headed for a rendezvous with the international space station.
SpaceX is under contract to NASA, so this isnt true privatisation yet; but at least it introduces a bit of independence.
This seems an appropriate occasion to post once again a link to How the West Wasnt Won, an excellent parable on the incoherence of NASA.
