During series 1 of BSG I thought Commander Adama might be a Straussian, giving the fleet the ‘hope’ of Earth as a destination, even though he thought of it as a myth, a noble lie, to help focus the attentions of the survivors. Of course later on we and he discover that what he thought was a myth was actually the real deal. So maybe there is a lesson in here somewhere.
