More and more internet traffic is bypassing the U.S., in part to avoid dealing with Patriot Act snoopery. (Conical hat tip to LRC.) Likewise, more and more international travelers are trying to avoid making flight connections in the U.S. to avoid TSA harassment. Meanwhile our rulers still holler about our freedom.

Anarchy, But Not Yet
[cross-posted at Liberty & Power]
My second AOTP post is up: Chomsky’s Augustinian Anarchism.
McCain Proposes a Toast
There’s a certain obscenity in McCain’s gassing about the “decency” of the United States when outside the hall his cops were brutalising innocent people. But my favourite line was this one: “if you’re disappointed with the mistakes of government, join its ranks and work to correct them.” Try substituting “the Mafia” (or “the Gestapo,” or “the Sith,” or “the Hosts of Hell”) for “government” in that sentence.
Blessed Are the Peacemakers
David Gordon’s review of Anarchism/Minarchism has been posted, with bouquets and brickbats for both sides. (But David charitably refrained from pointing out some of the eccentricities of the index.)
Fun With Cops
Want to know what’s really going on in the streets of the Twin Cities? You won’t get the story from the MSM; but check out the accounts here, here, here, here, and here.
Ayn Rand Institute Lets Us Read Some More Rand!
ARI has once again taken some baby steps into the 21st century by making available online a few more of the works they’re supposedly trying to promote, including Rand’s essays “The Objectivist Ethics” (probably her most important article), “Introducing Objectivism,” “An Answer for Businessmen,” “Man’s Rights,” “Collectivized ‘Rights’,” and “The Nature of Government” (this last is Rand’s only serious discussion of anarchism) as well as some Rand audio files (lectures and interviews).
Addendum:
I just noticed that, despite the absence of any warning to this effect, the online text of “The Objectivist Ethics” is not complete; it’s just the first few pages of the article. I haven’t checked the others yet, but beware. And if it still needed saying: DON’T TRUST ARI.
