Congratulations to Keith Preston, who has won the Libertarian Alliance’s essay contest on the relation between libertarianism and big business. Given Dirk Benedict’s dickish, whiny, misogynistic, aesthetically tone-deaf, and suicidally fanbase-alienating ramblings about the new Galactica, to say nothing of his sexist and homophobic comments about The A-Team, I really hope that if they ever get around to making that A-Team movie they keep threatening, Benedict’s character is … appropriately cast.
A student in Afghanistan has been sentenced to 20 years in prison (narrowly escaping a death sentence) for questioning Islam’s treatment of women.
Isn’t it wonderful how U.S. intervention has brought freedom to that troubled region?

In the meantime, check out Alan Moore’s comments on the political subtext. (Though I have to take issue with Moore’s claim that no one before him had tried that kind of approach to the superhero mythos; surely Squadron Supreme and Dark Knight Returns, to name no others, can claim precedence.)
