Philosophy, Child of the Agora

My sixth Libertarianism.org column, this one on “How Competition Created Greek Philosophy,” went up on September 2nd, but I didn’t get around to mentioning it till just now. (The last three weeks have been insanely hectic – which is also why there hasn’t been a seventh one yet.) Anyway, here it is.

Are you familiar with the works of J.P. Vernant? He argues that philosophy was the result of politics, which occurred in the agorá more so than market trade.

    I liked the column.
I have virtuous reasons to like it: it is well written and insightful. I wish I would have read this article when I was 14.
But I have one evil reason to like it: my high school philosophy teacher would probably die from a heart attack if he were to read this. What a temptation.
    Thanks for writing this.

How do hectic weeks delay the appearance of a seventh week?
