The Empirical Me
I’m Roderick T. Long, Professor of Philosophy at Auburn University. I’m an Aristotelean/Wittgensteinian in philosophy and a left-libertarian market anarchist in social theory. (More about me here.) This blog, Austro-Athenian Empire, is a continuation of my earlier blog, archived here.

Reminds me of this episode of Star Trek: TNG where Picard meets an anarchist and a statist. One is a tall, savage, knife-wielding carnivore who repeatedly threatens to start killing, and the other is a calm, intellectual, well-read pacifist. Guess which is which?

This is frustrating, but not to be surprised. This is even worse logic than normal for Glenn though — anarchists supporting “total government”? Does he have a shred of anything to back that absurdity up?
Reason #53,678,902 to just ignore that moron whenever he opens his mouth and spills out the putrefied contents of his warped mind.
Just politely nod, smile and walk past him as you would to the crazy dude standing on the street corner yelling about the great Martian-KGB conspiracy.
IMHO Glenn Greenwald nailed Beck:

“…Beck himself doesn’t really appear to have any actual, identifiable political beliefs; he just mutates into whatever is likely to draw the most attention for himself and whatever satisfies his emotional cravings of the moment.”
Yup, that’s about right. Beck’s an emotionally needy, intellectually stunted clown.

Hey! You’re not supposed to know about the Red-Red Alliance!
Best quote from that linked article:
” How can people who cheered on the Bush/Cheney administration and who want to re-install GOP leaders in power (i.e., Fox News, Limbaugh, the right-wing blogosphere, GOP House members) possibly make common cause in any coherent way with those who are in favor of limited federal government power, reduced debt, privacy, and Constitutional protections — all the things on which the GOP relentlessly waged war for years? In one important sense, the “tea party” movement is similar to the Obama campaign for “change”: it stays sufficiently vague and unspecific to enable everyone to read into what they want, so that people with fundamentally irreconcilable views believe they’re part of the same movement.”
Maybe he was talking about Noam Chomsky…was that below the belt?
Zing! That’s the only instance in which it could have made sense.
