Everyone’s pointing out that this ad – created to be pitched to, but never approved by, the World Wildlife Fund – is tasteless and offensive. (Click the pic below to enlarge it, or click here to seriously supersize it.)
Well, duh. But what I’ve yet to see anyone point out is how counterproductive the ad’s caption is:

(a.k.a. “Kneel before Zod!”) When you hear that “the planet” has killed 100 times more people than 9/11, is your natural response to respect and preserve it, let alone to donate money to its support? I’d think the natural response would be “I guess the planet is our enemy! We’d better declare war upon it!”

John, surely you quoth a jest. Droughts are caused by corn farming, floods by asphalt paving and poison monkeys by white male NWO scientists.
Speaking of poison monkeys: At one point, there was some sort of laboratory not far from my father’s hometown in Pennsylvania. When my father was around elementary school age, there was some sort of lab mishap and everyone in his town was warned to be cautious about going outdoors because several test monkeys had escaped and were on the loose, no doubt infested with some military-engineered organ-liquefying virus like the monkey in that “Outbreak” movie.
Yes! Olbermann noted that he would not mind if the designers starved, but he totally missed this point. This demonstrates the senselessness better than any ill will toward the designers.
BTW: any chance that Obama makes the case next week that non-profit co-ops will ultimately create what we mean when we talk about a ‘public option’?

Yeah, except that in the beginning of the 21st century, there was no Internet. Imagine the amount of competition if “lodges” were networked, and so, not restricted geographically.
The government cannot solve the health care crisis. But its agents could, at the very least, suggest something along these lines. Since politicians are politicians, they’d want a hand in coordinating the “lodges,” but hell, it’s a step in the right direction.
Does it count as assimilation if the government prompts an industry into more diversity?
