"apparently a private company rather than the government, though I don’t know how sharp that distinction is"

Are you saying This particular company is not very distinctive from a government, or that all private companies are not very distinctive government?

Say it aint so roderick! I hope private companies don't become hacked off the left-libertarian axe!

All hail private property!

That wiki article described typical government profligacy with the lives and money of the subjects they control. Beheading each other's representatives for trivial reasons then starting a war...

I would like to see a huge statue of Genghis Khan killing Inalchuq by pouring molten silver on his head.
It would be a marvelous reminder not to show your hated enemies any mercy. Merely defeating them and executing them isn't enough.

I often dreamed of being wealthy enough to finance the construction of a 500 foot tall statue of Hernan Cortez with laser eyes here in Omaha. Not that I admire Cortez, but I thought perhaps it could prompt an appearance by Neil Young who would show up to protest, allowing me to inquire as to whether he and Gordon Lightfoot have ever enjoyed a Labat Blue together.

I met a couple of girls from Mongolia in the elevator at the hotel the other day. About the only thing I could strike up conversation with them was Mongolian beef and Ghengis Khan. I guess you've got to accentuate the positive, so to speak.
