How bizarre: even from a purely value-free perspective. The government is airing confessions of “rioters” who say they were influenced by western media. Is Allah’s greatness now also property of western media? That might undercut itself sooner than later.
It’s amusing to see a regime that never thought it would have to defend its legitimacy flailing around trying to think of ways to defend its legitimacy. Other than having teenagers on dirt bikes hit people with sticks, of course.
In London at the Cenotaph (World War 1 memorial) it was made illegal to read aloud the names of British soldiers killed in Iraq.

Well I can honestly say that I never expected that piece of legislation.
As I understand it, the medieval Catholic church forbade non-priests to read the Bible.
